Chisholm Institute had an ageing and unreliable security system. Increased downtime due to system failures created operational and safety issues. Responsible for all eight campuses, these issues required an over-arching solution.

The Unified solution

Once awarded the contract for the security systems upgrade, the project team of engineers and technicians from Unified Electronic Solutions worked closely with the Chisholm security team to deliver custom solutions that enabled the successful migration and integration of the existing systems and legacy hardware to the Inner Range Infiniti platform.

    Chisholm Institute is one of Victoria’s premier public vocational education and training providers, prominently placed across Melbourne’s south east.

    They are a government-owned TAFE that offers over 250 certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, bachelor and graduate certificate courses across 10 locations and online.

    Integration and migration challenges

    The project experienced challenges however with strong collaboration between Unified and Chisholm, these were overcome to achieve outcomes that surpassed expectation on each occasion. The challenges included the requirement to integrate existing proprietary card readers and the provisioning of a temporary standalone server/network architecture to enable the migration to Infiniti controllers.

    Chisholm Institute now has a reliable system with an increased number of features. It can manage all sites more efficiently by using custom-designed schematic maps, unique alerts with notifications and integrations with other systems used by the organisation.

    As a further benefit, the improved system introduced features such as Lockdown to aide in providing staff, students, and visitors a safer campus experience.
